When we collect your information

What is a Collection Notice?

Under the Information Privacy Principles, the Shire must take reasonable steps to make you aware of certain information when it collects personal information from you.

Different services can require different notices.

A collection notice relates to the particular service, form, application, booking or activity through which the Shire is collecting your information.

This is why several different collection notices may appear on this page. The notice applying to one Shire service may be different from the notice applying to another.

Understanding the notice

What you should expect to see

A collection notice helps explain how your personal information will be handled in connection with a particular Shire service or activity.

Why information is being collected
The purpose for which the Shire requires your personal information.
How it will be used or disclosed
The purposes for which the information may be used and the circumstances in which it may be disclosed.
Whether the information is required
Including any consequences that may arise if requested information is not provided.
Access to your information
Information about how you can seek access to or correction of personal information held about you.
Purpose-specific notices

One Privacy Policy. Different Collection Notices.

The Shire's Privacy Policy explains its overall approach to handling personal information.

Collection notices provide more specific information about a particular collection of personal information. For example, information collected for an accommodation booking may be collected and used for different purposes from information provided through an application, registration or community consultation.
