Ancient stories in an ancient landscape
Walga Rock, also known as Walganha, is a place of deep cultural significance to Wajarri people and one of the most remarkable Aboriginal cultural sites in the Murchison region of Western Australia.
The enormous granite formation rises dramatically from the surrounding outback landscape around 48 kilometres south-west of Cue. Weathering has created overhangs and natural shelters along the rock, including the extraordinary gallery of Aboriginal rock paintings.
A visit to Walga Rock is about much more than seeing the paintings. Take time to appreciate the scale of the rock, the silence of the landscape and the long cultural connection between people and place.
